As of 1 May 2020, South Africa enters into a Level 4 Covid-19 Lockdown.
All borders of South Africa remain closed during the period of Alert Level 4, except for designated ports of entry for the transportation of fuel, cargo and goods and repatriation of foreign nationals.
The Department of Home Affairs will only be issuing birth and death certificates and replacement of identification documents. The provisions of these documents are “essential services”. Ordinary immigration-related services are not classified as “essential” for Level 4.
